i just tried to go to the site and there is a goodbye message.

i was a member there since 2010. i was really surprised.

i had just started posting there again after being away for a while.

This is sad news.... I too posted there and valued very much the people there & their insights and support. It was the first place I landed upon my awakening, and there is a wealth of information there...

I feel too that my awakening process was all "documented" there, kept safe, with so many helpful, loving comments and support... so many Links to much valuable information... The site was VERY easy to navigate and search. I can't believe that nothing is planned to be archived or saved!!! this hurts,

This hurts a lot.

It's like a sudden, shocking, out of the blue announcement: "JWR is no longer one of ..."us"...."

No more contact, no more anything, case closed... I think the members deserve better, a lot of people shared their soul on that site...

No opportunity to even transfer ownership, etc?

It feels like the admins and mods have just coldly "disfellowshipped" everybody there!

Perhaps the JW brain/mindset can never be fully eradicated...

I guess the local people are supposed to be impressed by this, how friendly-seeming and accepting-seeming are the JWs to their culture.... But it is all for show, as we all well know.

just called into the kingdom hall, speaker said he couldn't tell if anyone was listening to his talk now that everyone uses electronic devices and nobody laughed... well i did!.

he also mentioned when everyone used the bible he could hear the pages flipping and he knew they were following along.

this was really funny to me.

And 10... 10 fingers, ten toes, ten units to math calculations...

This could keep ya going for awhile... ;)

Yes, I can't remember which Awake or WT, but owning pets definitely frowned upon - they take time, attention, money, focus, etc., all away from the org. Can't have that!

Where did Jehovah go ?

for the many years i was mentally " in " the congregation, i equated the organisation as interchangeable with the persona of jehovah, in effect whatever the organisation said or thought, that was what jehovah thought and that was what jehovah said.... it was that simple.

so when i found out the ttatt and the cynical moves of the organisation over the years,including 1975 , the donation arrangements, the united nations, etc i was devastated and thought " where's jehovah in all of this?".

the god who i'd poured my heart out to on many occasions and who i thought was silently listening and hearing my pleas ..... was not there , .

Exactly, tornapart!! "No one has all the answers."!!! And doesn't this actually make us feel *more* humble?!?

We feel more humble and connected to others and are more ready to listen to - and respect! - other people when we don't have all the answers!!

Those arrogant so-and-so's in New York with all the answers -- bah!! to them. I shake them off as dust (doo-doo, actually!) on my feet.

Wow. At the end of the video' there was a voice-over saying something like, "... the work of reactivating someone is never easy...."

JWs are also now using the word, "reactivate" when talking about getting "inactive ones" to be active again. Very weird!

Also, the same "book study" type of meetings, and where everybody stares and passes judgement on you, constantly, constantly, and the exchange of looks among them if you are doing or saying anything not quite right...! Sooooo similar!!
